Act How to become Scene A Man

Lights Up

oel. When I was a little boy I would play in my woods. A lot. We had this big woods behind our house and it went on for miles and miles, I swear to god. I would usually play by myself. Pretend I was an explorer or an archaeologist and imagine the roots that stuck up out of the ground… imagine they were dinosaur bones and I was discovering them for the first time. It was fun. I had an older brother who played outside too. He kept to himself. One day though, we went to the local thrift store and found some camouflage outfits. We thought, ‘how cool… we can pretend we’re in the army.’ And we did. And it was a lot of fun. We started playing with each other outside. War. Follow the leader. He was the first person who showed me what a woman looked like naked. Down by the creek he had an old Playboy in a toolbox. He picked out what picture to show me. It was just a woman floating on her back in the water.  And I thought ‘how cool, I have an actual older brother.’ One day, though, we were playing and we came across this big sewer pipe. I mean it was huge. And he told me that if I didn’t go in it and touch the back wall… I wasn’t a man.
